The high pitch ringing filled the air of the school signaling that classes where over for the day and Jake was glad for it. Grabbing his back pack then heading into the hall way he wondered if he would run into Tobias at the bus stop. That put a smile on his face wondering if Tobias could become friends with Cassie, Rachel and Marco. Only one way to find out. Though he wasn't unaware his blue eyes kept sharp scanning around the sea of head's before him he was making sure Robbie and his "friends" aren't around the corner ready to pick on Tobias again. He thought he spotted Tobias's blonde hair and raised left hand up to wave to him and as he approached said to him. "Hey want to come with me and meet my friends from the bus stop you saw me with earlier?" It was said with honesty, no hint of a trick or a lie a true honest voice inviting an expansion of friendship.

Tobias turned his head, a slight smile thrown Jake's way when the other kid caught up. "Hey, Jake." He paused to consider Jake's offer and shrugged. "Sure, why not. I got nothin' better to do." Please, Tobias. Like you're so cool. He hitched his backpack up a little higher on his shoulder as they fell in step, heading for the school exits and the bus stop, respectively. "I can't wait until I can get myself a set of wheels," he groused as a slew of kids jostled past him, keen to hurry to their own Friday night plans. The best of his own were usually spent with Dude, so the opportunity to hang out with some real live human beings was not likely to be passed up.

Pfft. Banging erasers? What kind of punishment is that? "You're wasting your potential, Marco." Yeah, well who asked you? Of course, I couldn't say that to my teacher. Mr. Perkins is just the kind of guy who'd love to write me up for a comment like that. Still, I made a very rude noise and a smart-assed remark and was sentenced to three afternoons of banging erasers. All next week when I'm there, I'm gonna be telling myself I should have kept my mouth shut while he lectures me, but I guess that's what I get for not bothering to turn in my last three homework assignments. Okay, maybe like...my last six. My bad.
"Hey, Jake! Wait up!" Marco called from the other end of the hall. As he started toward Jake and Tobias, though, his shoulder was tapped by Mrs. Ewing, the school counselor. He was detained for a few minutes while she spoke to him, and looked kind of annoyed about it. He rolled his eyes as he caught up with the other two and as Mrs. Ewing walked away. He had no backpack but carried all his books, olive-dark eyes already scanning the crowd for his best friend's kind-of hot cousin. "You're ditching me to hang out with String Bean?" Marco thumbed Tobias and gave Jake an incredulous look. "I see how it is, amigo."

The very last bell on Friday afternoon. It was music to anyone's ears. Everyone's footsteps moved quicker, the chattering was louder as school kids filtered out of the classrooms all at once, like a water breaking through a dam. Rachel was among them naturally, rushing out from the gym as she attempted to balance her books, her extra bag of clothes and those silly pom poms in her slender arms. Practice had been rather dull today, but maybe that was because she had other things on her mind...like the weekend. Somehow, this entire week seemed to drag on forever and she was just relieved to be getting out of here. Not even bothering to change out of her uniform, Rachel rushed down the hall towards her locker to shove those pesky books inside before she was wandering off again. The others would be on their way out or already at the bus stop, for sure. Passing by a closed door, she pounded a fist upon it a couple of times as she walked by. "Cass, c'mon!" she called, knowing the queen of 'drama' was most likely still in there. Maybe she'd be wearing those cute heels again.

Actually, she was changing from her gym shoes into a pair of sensible boots she'd kept in her locker. Did not want to trip and sprain her ankle, and risk embarrassing herself. She hastily came out of the bathroom, patting down her pockets. "I lost a tube of lip gloss," said Cassie as she came up alongside Rachel. This wasn't something she would usually say, but she'd thought she might try on a little...you know, just to change things up. She rolled her eyes. "That's what I get for trying to take a leaf out of your book, Rach. Maybe I should just stick to coveralls and the barn." Her words were more of a simple statement than a lament; she still had chores to get to back home. Actually, Cassie was pretty sure she had more chores sometimes than all her friends combined, but that kind of came with the farm. "So, what's the plan for tonight, then?" Her dark brown eyes spotted Marco scanning the crowd and she began to head for him, with a smile and a wave.

Smiling he relaxed a little this may work, I have a good feeling about this. "Sweet." And just who shows up but one of the people he was waiting on Marco giving a light tap on Marco's shoulder. "Hey your just the guy I'm looking for, Marco I want you to meet a new friend of mine, this is Tobias he just moved here." His eyes scanned the area if Marco was here he had no doubt that Cassie and Rachel would be on their way. "I also believe Cassie and Rachel are on their way to." His fingers came up to his lips and he let out a quick pitch of a whistle to get their attention. "Tobias this is Marco, and soon you will be meeting Cassie , and my cousin Rachel. Hey why don't we go get pizza somewhere ?" Digging into his pocket a minute pulling out a bill looking at it and stuffing it back in his pocket. "I have twenty what do you say?" Hopefully they would agree, at least he was hoping they would sometimes food helped break the ice with others. His eyes focused on Marco and if Cassie and Rachel had not heard him in time he would let them know about pizza. His hand came up pulling his hair away from his face as he leaned against a pole. Placing his hand on Marco and Tobias's shoulder "Think about it Pizza my treat...We can all get to know eachother a little more. Also it's my treat you can't refuse free food right?" Grinning a little hoping it would convince them both .

Pizza? Tobias smiled a little, remembering last Friday's impromptu lunch with Rachel. It had been nice, until Cassie had shown up and made things awkward - and not because Tobias wanted to spend time alone with Rachel, more because Cassie had assumed he must have wanted to...when he would have been perfectly fine scooting over and letting her have a seat, even if the girls would have eventually lapsed into feminine chatter he couldn't follow. Something told him Cassie wasn't really the type for too much feminine chatter, though. "Sure, why not," he said again. Maybe they should make visits to Pizza Overlord a weekly thing. He kept this thought to himself as Marco jerked a thumb in his direction and insulted him. Was it an insult? It kind of sounded like one, given the tone of Marco's voice, but he decided to let it go. He chalked Jake's eagerness up to trying to convince his buddy to tag along, smile widening a bit when he saw Rachel walking next to Cassie in the crowd.

Whoa, whoa...did this guy just whistle at me?
Marco blinked a couple times when Jake whistled. "Hey, dude, do I look like Homer to you?" he asked with his eyebrow cocked. He almost gave Jake a shove, but decided against it when he brought up the topic of pizza. "You're buying? How can I pass that up? Let's roll." Cassie showed up just in time; Marco's fingers were itching to play the arcade games at the pizza place and he would not have waited long. She smiled and waved, and he just smiled. "What's up, Cass. Jake's making us chill with the new kid. But you're cool with that, you're all about that peace and love shit, right?" His tone was more playful than hostile, made clearer when he threw Tobias a grin. That grin only widened as Rachel walked up. "Hey, Xena. Jake wants to go for pizza. You down?"

Sure, to 'change things up'. Meaning, for Jake. Cassie didn't need to voice it, yet whether it was the truth or not, it was what Rachel instantly assumed. She couldn't help it. For once, it wasn't she who was fawning over some guy; this time it was Cass. So when her friend slipped up beside her, that all knowing grin creased Rach's lips while a hand was rummaging through her bag. Within seconds, she procured her own lip gloss (a lovely soft mauve shade) and handed it over. "Never fret about that when I'm around." A soft chuckle when Cassie further commented and she'd busy herself with letting down that blonde hair from its ponytail. "Your ass is too nice for coveralls, Cass," she replied candidly. It would seem the others would answer the girl's next question as they caught up. "Pizza again, huh?" she said without thought. Well, for her, Cass and Tobias anyway. Regardless, she grinned to find that the new kid was there before looking to Marco. "I'm game. Just anywhere but here."

Cassie reached for the tube of lip gloss gratefully, but her cheeks flushed when Rachel commented on her...ahem, assets. "...Thanks," she said awkwardly with a little giggle, not quite sure how to take a compliment like that. If it hadn't come from her best friend - if it had actually come from a guy - she might have just died right then and there! Blessedly, this little exchange had ended by the time the ladies reached the gents, and Cassie discreetly passed Rachel's lip gloss back. "Sure, I'm in. I'll have what everyone else is having." Didn't want Jake to have to go overboard with five different preferences! "Nice to see you again," she said to Tobias. After all, she did have some classes with him and she'd seen him eating at Pizza Overlord with Rachel last week. Her phone vibrated in the pocket of her jeans and she pulled it out as the group broke free of Hedgeview's doors and out into the autumn sunlight. Unlike Rachel, she wasn't exactly a pro at texting and walking, so she lagged behind the rest for a moment.

Shaking his head at Marco ."I wasn't whistling at you I was trying to get Rachel and Cassie to see us. But well I guess you always think a whistle from anyone is your way Marco... So which girl was talking about you today? " Jake was paying attention though to what was going on and his eyes moved to Cassie and Rachel and looked to Tobias "So you already met that's cool so Tobias this is Cassie and Rachel, Cassie's family has a wildlife rehabilitation center too, we help out from time to time. Cass do you think it would be cool with your parent's if he came with us when we help out?" Heading towards Pizza overlord eyes looking around at the people around them and shops he shrugged his shoulder's a bit towards Rachel "There is nothing wrong with Pizza it also has very important parts of the food Pyramid there is Dairy from cheese, Vegetables from tomato sauce and herbs for flavoring, then there is the dough which is made with wheat flour... So look three food groups right there, and if we add meat we have a fourth food group, see we are eating healthy!" He tried to make a joke of it at least if it caught on at all hopefully Marco wouldn't throw a Xena warrior princess in there at Rachel. His steps where up beat but he had another thought considering when they would all have to go home. "After pizza we can always take a short cut home, that construction site is abandoned so it's not like we can get hurt. " His attention turned to Tobias again. "So what kind of pizza do you like?"

"Pepperoni and black olive," he answered, his brow furrowing a bit when Jake began listing pizza ingredients. The group filed out and slowly made their way to the parlor, where several other Hedgeview kids had decided to spend their early Friday evening. Tobias blinked a couple times, surprised at the notion that Jake would have everything planned, right down to their trip home. "Sure," he said in vague reply. He just wanted to hang out, so he'd walk home with them too. Briefly he opened his mouth to tell Cassie her lip gloss looked nice, but he thought better of calling her out and snapped his mouth shut. Blue eyes were already scanning the restaurant for a good booth. "What do you like to play here?" he asked Marco.

"Dead Zone Three, SleazeTroll's Revenge, Frogger..." Marco began to lazily name off games, but his eyes were busy scanning the parlor for any cute girls he might not know. Friday night was sure to guarantee at least a few. "Don't think you can beat the master, though, dude. I will crush you at every single game in this joint." He looked up at Tobias and offered a challenging grin. "Jake thinks he's boss, but he's pretty delusional. It's my initials at the top of most of the machines."
Bragging? Nah, man, you're not bragging. This is a public service announcement, Marco, you wouldn't want anybody to embarrass themselves!
"Hey, how ya doin'." He smiled at a pretty brunette girl, who smiled sort of nervously back...and then went to her table full of other cute girls, who were giggling and giving him covert looks a couple minutes later. "See that?" He elbowed Tobias' arm. "That girl is telling her friends how gorgeous I am, and they're all enthusiastically agreeing with her."

It was easy to make Cassie blush. The girl should know by now that Rachel would be blunt with her because she seemed to be the only one that never got offended. She was always nicely blunt, of course. Although, with Jake, it almost seemed as if he didn't even have to say anything at all. Was she grinning madly again? Paint her lips red and call her the Joker, for crying out loud. Perhaps she should lessen the amount of teasing; Rach feared it might force Cassie back into that coveralls forcefield, and she'd never try lipstick or heels again!
Vaguely listening to Marco prattle on about how "he was the best" and all that jazz, she sought for the round, corner booth and gladly found it empty. "Tobias is better than you think," she commented lightly, not bothering to even look at the group until sliding across the seat to claim the middle. It was then that she was finally paying full attention, glancing from the group of girls back to Marco...and that sly grin creased her lips. "I dunno, Marco...there's an awful lot of giggling going on..."

Cassie rolled her eyes at Marco and barely concealed a snort. See, they hadn't hung out much before tonight. It seemed as if Jake was trying to get them all to be buddy-buddy together, but prior to this evening, the girls and guys just did their own separate things. Even though Rachel and Jake were cousins and lived fairly close to each other, they almost never hung out except for family get-togethers. Cassie ought to know; as Rachel's best friend the girls hung out as much as they could. Jake and Marco had kept to themselves, too, probably engaged in juvenile boy things Rachel and Cassie had no interest in. Tobias, though... Dark brown eyes traveled to the gangly blonde youth Marco was jabbing, and she tilted her head just the slightest bit. Tobias was a wild card. Jake had never been so insistent that they all hang out until he came around. Knowing Jake, Cassie could just chalk it up to wanting to make a new kid feel more at home, but there was something else, something weird. Not unpleasantly so. Tobias was just different, and she was wondering what that would mean to the group gathered here tonight. Snapping herself out of her thoughts, she spoke up to refute Marco's boasting claims. "Rachel has a point. Why are they all giggling? Check your shoes, you got toilet paper stuck to one of them?" She wouldn't even get into the debate about who would kill whom at video games. Cassie wasn't a big gamer. She liked a few, but not enough to want to engage in conversation about them. "I think we should hit the mall after this." Ordinarily that was something unusual for Cassie to suggest, but she gave Rachel a meaningful look. Not that the others knew it, but there was a new spot right next to Marie Claire's on the far right of the building that sold fur...
